Dr. Erin Milhem is a licensed clinical psychologist specializing in assessment and intervention for children, young adults, and families affected by neurodevelopmental disabilities, such as Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, learning disabilities, executive functioning challenges, and cognitive impairments, as well as related issues like anxiety and depression.
Dr. Milhem graduated from the University of Washington in 2006 with a Bachelor of Arts in both Psychology and Interdisciplinary Visual Arts. She earned her doctorate from Antioch University Seattle in 2011, completing concentrations in Art Therapy and Child and Family Treatment and Assessment.
She has received specialized training at Seattle Children's Hospital, the Seattle Children's Research Institute, the Autism Spectrum Treatment and Research (ASTAR) Center, the University of Washington, and the Antioch University Community Clinic. Dr. Milhem completed her internship and postdoctoral training at the University of Washington CARE Clinic, where she specialized in autism spectrum disorders, ADHD, anxiety-related disorders, learning disabilities, and other neurodiverse profiles.
Her clinical experience includes early diagnostic assessments for children with developmental delays and autism spectrum disorders, comprehensive evaluations for developmental challenges or learning disabilities, intervention planning, consultation, and therapy services. She also has extensive experience working with parents, providing coaching to help them manage difficult behaviors and build effective skills. As a foster and adoptive parent, she has a unique expertise in working with individuals affected by trauma, attachment issues, and loss.
Dr. Milhem’s therapeutic approach is individualized, combining elements of cognitive behavioral therapy, psychoeducation, skill-building, and insight-oriented therapy. She views therapy as a collaborative process and values working closely with parents to enhance their child's skills and overall well-being and enjoys working with young adults to help them reach their potential.
When she is not working, Dr. Milhem enjoys spending time outside, creating art, interior designing, and spending time with family.
